Big Apple Dodgeball is trying a lil’ something new this summer: We are organizing a couple of 1-day kickball tournaments (dates below) for you and all of your friends. So round up the troops, there’s gonna be a rumble on the playground…

Date: Sunday, August 15, 6pm-9pm (FREE!)
Location: Passante Playground (6th Ave and Houston).

TEAMS
We are introducing the “Buddy System” of team selection. This means if you bring two friends, the three of you can play on the same team. Individuals and “buddies” will be randomly assembled into teams of 10 players.

HOW IT WORKS
Each team will play a minimum of two games. Click here for the official rules (though they *may* be slightly modified to accommodate the courts). So basically, mark your calendar, show up with some friends and it’s GAME ON. Let the kickball fun begin! Questions? Email league@bigappledodgeball.com.

On July 8 from 5-8 PM, PUMA TIME and the World Dodgeball Society will host a pickup dodgeball game at Puma City at the Seaport. Similar to the game you may have played in grade school but with “no-sting” balls, this game is all about FUN. Two teams, on each side of the court, throw multiple balls at each other while trying to eliminate other teams. This game will be open to the public. Come down and throw some balls!

What: NYC PRIDE 2010
When: Sunday, June 27th at 11:30 AM
Where: 39th St. between Madison and 5th Ave (We’ll be marching in the 5th section, right between the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps Marching Band and the Sundance Outdoor Adventure Society.)

We’ll have a car and tons of schwag. So bring your dodgeball uniforms and any other flare you want, and practice your beauty queen wave: it’s gonna be crazy-fun!

Committees Meeting
We are having a Committees meeting (this includes ALL committees) this Wednesday, June 16 at 7pm at 20 Cooper Square, 5th Floor. Please be on time. For those of you have still want to be part of a committee (even if you don’t know which one), SIGN UP at the bottom of this page so we can keep you informed about what’s going on. Pride Sign-up and Meeting
For everyone walking in the Pride March on Sunday, June 27 with Big Apple Dodgeball, please SIGN UP if you have not already. We’ll be sending out an email with more details regarding the event soon.

Kickball Tournament
That’s right: Kickball. We scheduled two dates in the summer — Sunday, July 11 from 3-6pm at Passannante Square and Sunday, August 15 from 6-9pm at James J. Walker — the grass field next to Tony D’s. More details to come, but save these dates if you want to play.

What is the Board?
To put it simply, they are the people who run the league. From ordering tee-shirts to organizing the end of season party, we’re the folks who do it (meet your current Board members here).

I have some great ideas for Big Apple Dodgeball. How do I get on the Board?
In order to run for one of the General Board positions, you must have served on a Committee for one full season.

What are the Committees?
Committees are the the groups within the Board that have specific responsibilities. They are: Charity, Press/Marketing, Referees, Social and Web. Each committee is represented on the General Board by a chairman. The chairman works with his/her committee to accomplish its responsibilities.

How do I get on a Committee for next season?

I want to be the boss. How can I run for Commissioner?
The positions of Commissioner, Vice-Commissioner, Secretary/Treasurer, Social Director and Director of Operations are all part of the Executive Board. You must have served as a General Board member for one year (a full term) before running for an Executive Board position.

Why do we do it like this?
Good question. Big Apple Dodgeball was established in 2007 and defined its operations with a Charter. Since the League is constantly changing, the Charter is continually under review and being amended to help fulfill the mission of BAD!.

Wait a second. I though there were going to be elections this year!
The Board has voted to amend the Charter to reflect an election process that is more beneficial to the League. Why did we do this? One word: Commitment. We want to ensure the elected Board will continue to lead the League and ensure the success of Big Apple Dodgeball.
